{"id":6371,"date":"2023-02-10T15:20:27","date_gmt":"2023-02-10T15:20:27","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.dewise.com\/web\/?p=6371"},"modified":"2023-02-10T15:22:12","modified_gmt":"2023-02-10T15:22:12","slug":"clojure-meetup-open-source-licences-for-developers","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.dewise.com\/web\/clojure-meetup-open-source-licences-for-developers\/","title":{"rendered":"Clojure Meetup: Open Source Licences for Developers"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Yesterday &#8211; Thursday the 9th &#8211; we hosted a yet another <a href=\"https:\/\/www.meetup.com\/copenhagen-clojure-meetup\/\">Copenhagen Clojure Meetup<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The main topic of the meetup was <a href=\"https:\/\/opensource.org\/licenses\/category\">Open Source Licenses<\/a>, and the speaker was <a href=\"https:\/\/github.com\/maacl\">Martin Clausen<\/a> &#8211; legal council, startup founder and Clojure fan.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Martin took us through the different types of Open Source licenses, basically grouped into either  <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Permissive_software_license\">Permissive<\/a> or <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gnu.org\/licenses\/copyleft.en.html\">Copyleft<\/a>. Advice on which license to choose when (hint: Permissive: <a href=\"https:\/\/www.apache.org\/licenses\/LICENSE-2.0.html\">Apache V2<\/a> or Copyleft: one of the <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/GNU_General_Public_License\">GPL<\/a>s).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Martin did the same presentation for the London Clojurians meetup group in January. So lively that we didn&#8217;t even get to the secondary topic on <a href=\"https:\/\/clerk.vision\/\">Clerk<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>After the interesting discussion, we went out eating burgers and having a few drinks as usual.
